A 40-year-old who drove without a full licence or insurance has been fined £750.

Prabakaran Marikannu also had his licence endorsed with seven points.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis told magistrates that police were called by a member of the public on June 13, after they saw the defendant having difficulty reversing a Mitsubishi Lancer.

Marikannu, of Malew Street, Castletown, was located at Mill Street in Castletown and checks found he only held a provisional licence, despite being unsupervised.

Defence advocate John Wright said Marikannu had passed his theory test and was going to take his test shortly, but had taken the car out in a moment of madness.

He must also pay £50 prosecution costs and will pay £100 per month.
