A 30-year-old biker whose tax was nearly five years out of date has been fined £160.
Greg Stephen Radcliffe was stopped by police on July 7, on Bay View Road in Port Erin, while riding a Suzuki motorbike.
Checks found that the bike’s tax had expired in September 2021.
Radcliffe, of Victoria Road, Port St Mary, told police he’d taken ownership of the bike from his father, and had assumed everything was in order.
He sent a postal admission to the offence and in written mitigation, said it had been the first time he’d been out on the bike when police stopped him.
He said he’d since had to pay £400 to recover it.
Magistrates also ordered £50 prosecution costs.
