A would-be drug dealer has admitted being involved in importing more than £73,000-worth of cannabis to the island.

Christopher Peter Corkill pleaded guilty to the production offence as well as possessing the drug with intent to supply, and possession of it.

The 46-year-old was committed to the Court of General Gaol Delivery for sentencing and will make his first appearance there on July 29.

Prosecuting advocate Barry Swain told the court that 3.6kg of the class ‘B’ drug were found at Corkill’s home at Glashen Terrace, Ballasalla, on July 21.

Police valued the drug at £73,530.

More cannabis, weighing 235.8 grams and 16.3 grams was also found.

Mr Swain submitted that the case was too serious for summary court sentencing.

Defence advocate Stephen Wood agreed that the case should go to the higher court.

No bail application was made and Corkill is remanded in custody.
