An unlicensed driver who hit two parked vehicles has been fined £550.

John MacDowell, of Poachers Pocket, Ballasalla, admitted careless driving and having no valid driving licence.

Magistrates also endorsed his licence with four points.

The court heard that police were called to an accident at Main Road in Colby on March 27.

MacDowell’s Ford Focus had hit two parked vehicles.

He only held a UK licence which had expired in February 2024.

Defence advocate Helen Lobb said that the accident had been a momentary lapse in attention, and insurance had covered the damage to the other vehicles.

Magistrates also ordered the defendant to pay £50 prosecution costs.

He will pay all amounts at a rate of £200 per month.
