A distinctive Douglas shopfront is getting a little TLC as work begins to restore its historic canopy.

Robinson's on Prospect Terrace has announced that restoration work is under way, alongside improvements to the premises.

The business said the work was part of an effort to help bring Prospect Terrace ‘back to its best’.

In a message to customers, Robinson’s said: ‘A little work is underway on the terrace…

‘We’re currently restoring the canopy and making some improvements to the space, helping to bring the Prospect Terrace back to its best.

‘Apologies for any disruption while the work is ongoing, and thank you for bearing with us in the meantime.’

The work is being carried out at the shop near Woodbourne Road.

The canopy itself dates back to the late 1990s, with a planning application for the erection of a glazed canopy at 4-28 Woodbourne Road, known as Prospect Terrace, being approved in June 1996.

Robinson’s describes its Prospect Terrace premises as a local convenience store, offering a range of fresh produce, bakery goods, flowers, gifts and locally sourced products.

The family business also operates its larger site on Cooil Road.

The latest work is expected to cause some disruption around the Terrace while the restoration and improvements are carried out, although the business has thanked customers for their patience.
