A 20-year-old motorist has been fined £430 for driving a Mitsubishi Shogun in a dangerous condition.

Jake Taylor Broadhead appeared before magistrates on September 17, and also had his licence endorsed with three penalty points.

Prosecuting advocate Annie Bannister told the court that police stopped the defendant on June 30, at 11.25pm, on Tromode Road in Douglas, where he lives.

They suspected the vehicle was unfit to be driven and it was subsequently seized.

A vehicle examiner at the test centre found it had 25 defects and deemed it unroadworthy.

Duty advocate Andrew Baker represented Broadhead in court and said the car had only recently been purchased.

The defendant will pay the fine, plus £50 prosecution costs, within one month.
