Isle of Man brass band collaboration hailed a success

Ramsey Town Band joined forces with Swiss brass band Lignières for a special concert at Peel Cathedral, bringing together two musical traditions for an evening of music and friendship.

The recent performance was the highlight of a weekend of activities welcoming the Swiss visitors to the Isle of Man.

Organisers described the concert as a ‘truly unforgettable’ moment, with spectacular lighting helping to create a memorable atmosphere inside the cathedral.

The weekend also highlighted the island’s hospitality, with local businesses and community teams working together to welcome and support the visiting musicians.

Accommodation and catering were provided by the Comis Hotel and Ramsey Park Hotel, while OPUL and ASP Car Hire helped transport the guests, their luggage and equipment around the island.

Woodburn Catering provided food throughout Saturday at Peel Cathedral, while ELS supplied the concert lighting. The cathedral team was also praised for its support in helping bring the event together.

CJS Photography captured moments from the weekend and assisted with the concert’s ticketing platform, while the Wine Cellar and Pink Kitchen contributed to the celebrations and the buffet on the final day.

Reflecting on the experience, organisers said the weekend had showcased the island’s people, surroundings and community spirit, with the visitors even experiencing ‘four seasons in only three days’.

Although the music had come to an end, the friendships and memories created would last well beyond the visit.

The Isle of Man team said it hoped the event would mark the beginning of lasting friendships and stronger connections between the Isle of Man and Switzerland.

They added: ‘The music was extraordinary, but perhaps even more special were the friendships, connections and memories made along the way.’
