The curtain has come down on Taylorian Productions’ Cats following the end of its latest run.

Vicki McCausland, head of the marketing and production team, praised the cast and crew for their efforts, highlighting the months of work required to bring the show to the stage.

Unusually, those behind Cats also had plenty in common away from the stage, with numerous family members working together on the production.

Vicki said: ‘A production like Cats is a real team effort and takes months and months of preparation behind the scenes before the audience ever takes their seats.

‘From securing the rights and assembling the creative team and cast, through to rehearsals, choreography, music, costumes, hair and make-up, set, lighting and sound, together with many conversations with the brilliant VillaGaiety teams for their help and guidance in all areas, there are so many moving parts that have to come together.

‘We also had to be careful not to replicate the West End staging, so we couldn’t think of a more fitting backdrop than an old, run-down Gaiety Theatre.’

She said the cast had put an incredible amount of work into learning the choreography, music and characterisation, while the creative and production teams worked tirelessly to bring the world of Cats to life.

The production received a positive response from audiences, something Vicki said had been particularly rewarding for everyone involved.

She said: ‘For us at Taylorian Productions, one of the best things is seeing the reaction from audiences and hearing people talk so enthusiastically about the show afterwards. We’re enormously proud of everyone involved, both on stage and behind the scenes.

‘Productions of this scale only happen because a large group of talented and committed people give it everything they have.’

She added: ‘The support we receive from local audiences and our generous sponsors means a great deal to us.

‘To see Cats being embraced so warmly makes us very proud of what the whole team has achieved, and we are excited about what we can bring to audiences next, which will be announced very shortly.’
