Without Wings – The Manx Autoimmune Trust has raised £2,000 during a 12-hour music event celebrating the charity’s 10th anniversary.
The Band-a-thon took place at Quids Inn on Saturday, October 10, bringing together musicians, volunteers and supporters for a day of live music and fundraising.
Charity founder Jackie Morrey-Grace described the event as ‘fantastic’, praising the bands for their performances and entertainment throughout the day.
The event began at 1pm with a jazz vocal set from Mood Indigo, followed by Ramsey Grammar School’s 11-piece blues band, The Enthusiasts.
Trombone-fronted jazz quartet Jazzapenos performed a mix of songs, including Summertime and Copacabana, before Harry Roe and Josh Quaye took to the stage with a folk-rock set.
Covers bands CUNextFriday and Atomic Train, made up of Ramsey Grammar School students, then entertained the crowd, before punk performances from Half-Naked Headline, Croteau and Smoking Fingers.
Kincroft made its debut appearance during the event, which concluded with an extended set from Shady Acres.
Jackie said the event was busy throughout, with people coming and going across the 12 hours.
She added: ‘This was definitely one of the best parties we’ve thrown at Quids, who have supported us since our inception and hosted our first Band-a-thon back in 2018.
‘Our last Band-a-thon in 2024 raised £1,100, so to reach £2,000 this time is absolutely brilliant!’
Quids Inn donated all the door takings and rounded up the final fundraising total.
The charity also thanked the bands, volunteers, sound coordinator Jenni Smith, drummer Jonny Peacock and raffle prize donors, including the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company, Willow Spa and Robinsons.
Without Wings supports people across the island affected by autoimmune conditions through awareness campaigns, information, grant funding and community wellbeing groups.
The next wellbeing gathering will take place on Saturday, November 7, from 10am to midday at The Roundhouse in Braddan. The event welcomes anyone living with an autoimmune condition, chronic health issue or mobility difficulty.
