Mooir Vannin, delays in processing benefits and suicide prevention services will be among the issues raised at Tuesday’s House of Keys sitting.

MHKs will also question ministers about coastal erosion in Kirk Michael, bus services in the north and how findings from public health assessments are used to inform government policy.

Former Chief Minister Alfred Cannan will open questions by asking the Chief Minister which ministers have declared conflicts of interest over previous public statements about the Mooir Vannin application.

He will also ask what arrangements are in place to prevent those ministers from participating in decisions on the application.

Mr Cannan will question new Infrastructure Minister Jason Moorhouse about measures to protect Kirk Michael from coastal erosion and any assessment of bus services in the north of the island.

Delays in processing benefit applications will also come under scrutiny.

Katryna Baptist, MHK for Glenfaba and Peel, will ask Treasury Minister Michael Crowe for average processing times for Disability Living Allowance, Employed Person’s Allowance and Carer’s Allowance.

She also wants to know what support is available to claimants while they wait for their applications to be processed.

Suicide prevention and support for people in crisis will form another part of the sitting.

Douglas East MHK Joney Faragher will ask Cabinet Office Minister Chris Thomas whether he will commit to reviewing the Suicide Prevention Strategy, particularly the rollout of a fully resourced and connected Suspected Suicide Rapid Response Team.

The question follows a public protest outside Tynwald on October 20, organised by island community group ManxPACT to call for further government action on suicide prevention.

The sitting will also include elections to two House committees.

Members will be asked to elect three representatives to the Management and Members’ Standards Committee and five to the Standing Orders Committee.

The questions have been tabled ahead of Tuesday’s sitting, when ministers are expected to respond to members’ concerns in public.
