Isle of Man Creamery has appointed Stephen Keeley as its new managing director.

Mr Keeley takes over the role following the departure of former managing director Findlay Macleod, and brings 27 years of experience with the dairy cooperative to the position.

He has most recently served as finance director and, during his time with the Creamery, has worked across the business and developed close relationships with its producer farmers, board, employees and customers.

The appointment represents a move to experienced leadership from within the organisation, with the Creamery's board expressing confidence in Mr Keeley's knowledge of the business and the wider dairy sector.

Chair of the Isle of Man Creamery board, Dougie Coole, said: ‘Stephen has dedicated almost three decades to Isle of Man Creamery and has played a significant role in the development of the business during that time.

‘He brings a wealth of commercial knowledge, strategic insight and a genuine commitment to our farmers’ cooperative.

‘The board is delighted to appoint Stephen as managing director and is confident he has the vision and leadership to build on the strong foundations already in place while guiding the cooperative through its next stage of development.’

‘At the same time, we recognise the challenges we face as an island-based manufacturer, particularly around economies of scale and transport costs. It is important that we continue to evolve, invest wisely and make the most of the opportunities available to us.

Isle of Man Creamery is owned by 28 dairy farming families and employs around 85 people at its central facility in Tromode.

The cooperative produces fresh milk, cream, butter and a range of cheeses using 100% Manx milk. Its products are supplied to customers both on the Isle of Man and further afield.

Mr Keeley's appointment marks the next chapter for the farmer-owned cooperative as it continues to operate on behalf of its producer members.
