A former bank which was turned into a play area could soon become offices once more.

Bubble Ltd, which provides office space for businesses, has submitted a planning application to turn the former Isle of Man Bank in Ballasalla back into office space.

When the bank closed it was converted in to a soft play area called ‘The Club House’ in 2019. But the facility closed and all the equipment was moved into new premises at The Roundhouse in Braddan.

The planning statement says: ‘The existing building is a modern, single-storey property which was originally the premises of the Isle of Man Bank until its use was changed in 2019 to a children's play facility.

‘This use continued until 2022 when the user ceased the operation and the apparatus and equipment was dismantled and removed in 2023.’

The owner of the building advertised the building for continued use as a play facility but there has been no interest.

The planning statement added: ‘The building has remained unused since then despite the owner marketing it as a playground/nursery facility with no interest expressed.’

The applicant says there is six car parking spaces available and additional space for cycles and motorcycles.

There is no indication at this stage what type of business could move into the premises if the proposals are given the go ahead.

The application will be considered by planners in due course.
