The Salvation Army is appealing to Isle of Man residents and businesses to donate new toys and gifts to help ensure no child goes without a present this Christmas.
The charity is warning that rising living costs are placing increasing pressure on families, with some struggling to afford essentials such as food, heating and household bills.
Its annual Christmas Present Appeal aims to provide gifts for children whose families may otherwise be unable to afford them.
Last year, the Isle of Man Salvation Army distributed presents to more than 500 children, thanks to donations from local residents and businesses.
Captain Rachael Nieuwoudt, leader of The Salvation Army on Isle of Man, commented: ‘This Christmas families are wondering how they’ll get through the week.
‘Our Christmas Present Appeal is an opportunity for people in our community to embrace the spirit of Christmas and give to families and individuals who have next to nothing.
‘Christmas is meant to be a time of joy and togetherness, but for the people who are already struggling to put food on the table or heat their homes, it can be incredibly stressful and isolating.’
New, unwrapped toys and gifts can be donated at the Salvation Army church and community centre on Ballacottier Crescent, Isle of Man Business Park, until Monday, November 30.
Donations can also be left at all branches of Isle of Man Bank and at Peel Town Hall.
For those unable to donate a physical gift, financial contributions can be made online at salvationarmy.org.uk/douglas. Alternatively, gifts can be purchased through the charity's Amazon wishlist.
