A third firefighter was injured on the night of the major blaze at Castletown and Malew fire station, it has emerged.
Two crew members were treated at the scene of the fire for smoke inhalation and heat-stress related injuries.
Both injuries are described as minor but one of the casualties had to get further medical treatment the following day.
Now it has emerged that a third firefighter was injured that same night at Douglas fire station.
It is understood that they received facial injuries in an incident involving a power wash lance.
They have been receiving treatment at Noble’s Hospital.
A spokesperson for the Department of Home Affairs said: ‘I can confirm only two firefighters were injured while dealing with the incident at the Castletown and Malew station. They have received medical attention and continue to be monitored.
‘Another firefighter received medical treatment for a separate injury which was not sustained while dealing with this incident. They are currently still receiving treatment.’
