An unexpected warning has been issued by Ronaldsway Met Office for Thursday evening.

While drought has been a concern during the endless warm and dry weather in the las few weeks, a yellow warning – meaning ‘be aware’ – has been issued for flooding at Ramsey.

However, rain is not the cause but, rather, the high tides expected late evening.

A Met office spokesperson said: ‘High tide at midnight tonight may cause a little minor flooding at a few low-lying properties for a short time (around Riverside Industrial Estate and Gardener's Lane).’

Parts of Ramsey, close to the Sulby River and the harbour, are susceptible to tidal flooding. The warning will be in place from 10.30pm on Thursday until 1.30am on Friday.
