Gregg Memorials has been helping families across the Isle of Man honour their loved ones, initially founded in the 1970s by David Gregg, the business has always been rooted in craftsmanship and compassion. When David retired in 2005, his nephew Steve took over, moving the workshop to the Isle of Man Business Park and carrying on the family tradition with pride.

Gregg Memorials is a small, independent Manx business specialising in granite headstones, additional inscriptions, and the renovation of graves in every churchyard and cemetery across the Island. The team also supplies vases, plaques, ornaments, chippings, house name plaques, and pet memorials.

“Whilst tools have changed over the years, our mission remains the same,” says Steve. “We’re here to support grieving families and create personal memorials that celebrate the lives of their loved ones. From the moment you contact us, we guide you through the process with care.”

Visitors are welcome to the showroom, where they can see a wide range of materials and memorials first-hand. To help families visualise their choices, Gregg Memorials provides to-scale sketches of inscriptions and designs, can match existing fonts including old hand drawn lettering, and even offer etched photographs on memorials where permitted. To make things easier, the team also applies for all necessary permits with churches or the City Council on behalf of families.

Running a memorial business comes with challenges. Steve recalls the pandemic as a particularly difficult time, with supply delays and restrictions preventing teamwork. More recently, he says, the Island’s weather has been the biggest hurdle. “It’s been the wettest I can remember, which makes fitting memorials or painting outdoors really difficult. That’s why I rarely promise exact dates – the weather often decides for us!”

Despite these obstacles, Gregg Memorials continues to be guided by integrity, compassion, and quality. For Steve and his team, every memorial is more than stone – it’s a lasting tribute and a source of comfort for families for years to come.
