Midfielders dominate latest hockey Team of the Week

Manx Hockey Association's latest Team of the Week focuses on the players who shone during the second round of mixed league fixtures this season.

Zara Clark-Wilson (Castletown Cosney GK) - saved a penalty flick in the first 10 minutes and produced a series of outstanding stops which frustrated the Bacchas Colts attacks on goal throughout the match.

Alex Smith (Ramsey 1s) - put in a fantastic performance at the back, staying solid throughout and making key tackles to stop any Bacchas attacks. Smith’s passing was also key to Ramsey’s strong possession, transferring the ball effectively around the back and up the line

Suzanne Slater (Vikings D) - playing at the back, she helped marshal Vikings' defence and made several strong challenges to recover the ball and move it effectively up the pitch.

Toby Melling (Ramsey Ravens) - his strong work at the back to break down the opposition's play to intercept the ball and good distribution out wide was invaluable when his team was under pressure.

Tallulah Wilson (Harlequins C) - controlled the play brilliantly. She made strong tackles followed by great distribution of the ball forward to her attackers.

Nicole Astell-Burt (Bacchas D) - made an impressive debut which she capped off by a well-taken goal - possibly the goal of the game. She was a a constant attacking threat throughout the match.

Harri Lewis (Valkyrs A) - gave a calm and assured performance in his first Premier Division match, carrying the ball strongly and with excellent distribution at the heart of the midfield.

Josh Kaighin (Vikings B) - played out of position at CAM instead of upfront. Great distribution with defence-splitting passes to support the attack and was the focal point for Vikings' forays forward.

Ashleigh Lachenicht (Castletown Celts) - relentless work rate and disciplined performance, covering every part of the pitch. Broke up play effectively and won key battles defensively - provided quality support throughout the game.

Eleanor Devereau (Valkyrs B) - put in a great shift with excellent work rate. Provided numerous attacking opportunities and gave defensive cover when needed - played well in all aspects of her game.

Caleb Blakemore (Harlequins A) - worked tirelessly switching from both the front line and in the middle, frequently winning the ball in the press to give the team numerous chances on goal.

Displayed great composure and skill to hold onto the ball when surrounded by Valkyrs players.
