Vagabonds women put on a fantastic display against Didsbury Toc H on Saturday, kicking off their Women's NC2 North (West) campaign with a 57-5 win.

Bliss Murtagh sent Isla Curphey clear for the opening score after only a few minutes and the latter was soon in the thick of the action as she ran in three further tries before half-time.

Last season’s top performers Bea O’Neill and Freya Crowe benefitted from the Curphey chaos and they ran in two each, with Murtagh also bagging one of her own.

Skipper Sammie Macdonald was on kicking duties throughout and converted six out of nine.

But Vagas did take their foot off the gas in the second half and, while they retained an unassailable lead, they did have a big defensive shift to make.

This eventually cracked and allowed Didsbury to cross the whitewash for a consolation try, although it wasn’t enough to take the shine off an impressive Vagas performance.
