Isle of Man Lawn Tennis Association has announced its team which will fly the Manx flag at the 2027 Island Games in the Faroe Islands.
An eight-strong contingent will represent the island at next year’s event in the Danish archipelago between July 3-9.
The women’s team will comprise of Charlotte Clarke, Karen Faragher, Sarah Long and Hannah Snidal, with the latter also taking on the role of tennis team manager.
The inclusion of Faragher continues her remarkable record in the event, with the 2027 competition set to be her 18th appearance at the biennial games.
Tennis was first introduced for the 1991 Games in Aland, Finland when Faragher was one of the youngest members of the entire Manx team at 14.
Although the sport was not included in the 2005 Games in the Shetland Islands, she did compete as she was a member of the women’s football team that missed out on the bronze medal on goal difference to Bermuda, while most recently she competed in golf at last year’s Games in Orkney.
The men’s team for the Faroe Islands features the quartet of Orry Farnworth, Sean Drewry, Nerijus Gricevicius and Will Hart.
Announcing the selection, the Isle of Man LTA said: ‘A huge congratulations to all eight players on their selection. Representing the Isle of Man at the Island Games is a fantastic opportunity and we look forward to following their preparations as they build towards Faroe Islands 2027.
‘We would also like to thank everyone who expressed an interest in representing the island, along with Karen, Neil and Sean for their time and commitment throughout the selection process.
FUNDRAISING
‘As the team prepares for the Games, fundraising and sponsorship will play an important role in helping our players make the journey to the Faroe Islands.
‘We would welcome support from local businesses and the wider tennis community, whether through sponsorship, fundraising initiatives or ideas to help support the team.
‘We hope everyone will get behind our players as they prepare to represent the Isle of Man on the international stage.’
