If you’ve noticed that Gef the Mongoose has been a little quieter than usual over the past few weeks, there’s a perfectly good explanation.

He’s been moving house.

And, as anyone who has ever attempted to move house will know, it’s an absolute faff.

There have been boxes. There have been arguments over where things should go. There may even have been the odd missing sock. But after a lot of hard work, and a fair bit of sprucing up, Gef is finally ready to welcome you into his new home.

From today, Gef the Mongoose will have his very own section on the Isle of Man Today website.

You’ll still find Gef exactly where you’ve always found him on social media, keeping an eye on island life and getting himself into the occasional bit of mischief.

But now his stories, links and latest goings-on will also have a dedicated, rather lovely new home on Isle of Man Today.

And there’s a reason for the move.

Media Isle of Man, formerly Isle of Man Newspapers, is the island’s longest-standing provider of news, business and lifestyle content.

Its publications include the Isle of Man Examiner, Manx Independent and Isle of Man Courier, alongside the Isle of Man Today website and digital brand Gef.

Gef very much remains part of those plans, he’s simply got a new set of keys.

Dalby will always be the Spook’s original home, of course. You can’t take that away from the little fella.

But after years of causing mischief from his woodland patch (and the old website), it seemed only right that Gef had somewhere new to hang his hat.

So, consider this the official housewarming.

The kettle’s on, the boxes are (mostly) unpacked and the new place is looking rather snazzy.
