A drink-driver who crashed into a stop sign has been fined £800 and banned from driving for a year.
Lewis Martin admitted the offence and must also retake his test at the end of the ban.
A blood test, taken by the 18-year-old on June 19, produced a result of not less than 101. The legal limit is 80.
Prosecuting advocate Roger Kane told the court that Martin’s Ford Fiesta hit a stop sign a the junction of Devonshire Road and Quarterbridge Road in Douglas at 5.05am.
He left the car and went to a friend’s house.

Around 55 minutes later he agreed to meet police at Groves Road after talking to them on the phone.
Martin was said to be smelling of alcohol and unsteady on his feet when police met him.
The teenager, who lives in Fairways Drive, Santon, claimed that the brakes on his car had failed causing the accident but after the vehicle was taken to the test centre it was found to have no faults.
When interviewed at police headquarters Martin gave a ’no comment’ interview.
Defence advocate Ian Kermode said: ’This is a case of someone drinking the evening prior to driving.
’On June 18 he was drinking and then woke up early on June 19 thinking he was fit to drive, intending to drive home. He misjudged the corner at the bottom of Devonshire Road, at the junction with Quarterbridge Road.
’He then walked to a friend’s and spoke to police on the phone. He accepts he’s made a silly mistake.’
The court heard that Martin has a previous conviction for being drunk and disorderly.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes gave Martin credit for his guilty plea but added that she could not give him credit for co-operating with police after he had left the scene.
Martin was also ordered to pay £125 prosecution costs which he will pay along with the fine at a rate of £10 per week.
