Self-proclaimed old school comic Roy ’Chubby’ Brown will be part of the TT entertainment line-up this year.

The septuagenerian Yorkshireman will appear at the Gaiety Theatre on Sunday June 4 - Mad Sunday, perhaps appropriately - bang in the middle of the of the TT races period.

Famed for his foul mouth, flying helmet and multi-coloured tunic, Mr Brown will appear in the island for one night only.

He warns potential audience: ’Don’t forget, I’m an old school comic and believe there shouldn’t be any boundaries in comedy, so if you are easily offended, please stay away. ’On the other hand, if you want a good laugh come along and enjoy the show.’

The comedian’s visit forms part of a tour comprising more than 40 dates starting in February and ending in July. The Isle of Man is date number 31 in a run which takes him from Edinburgh to Margate via Rotherham, Blackpool and Skegness. After the Isle of Man, he heads to Kent, before playing two nights in Jersey and finishing up in Southport.

The comedian rarely appears on television, with much of his material deemed unsuitable for a family audience. However he did make a cameo appearance on the League of Gentlemen as the mayor of the town of Royston Vasey. Mr Brown’s real name is Roy Vasey.

He has a home in Middlesbrough and was born in the North Riding town of Grangetown, becoming well known in the 1970s after winning the runner up spot in the talent show New Faces.
