The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) responded to 10 incidents in the Isle of Man during the summer, new figures show.

The charity’s critical care teams attended a total of 557 incidents between June 21 and September 22, including the 10 call-outs in the island.

The charity’s teams, which are based in Eaglescliffe in the North East and Penrith in Cumbria, also responded to 331 incidents in the North East, 173 in Cumbria, 24 in Northumberland, eight in Scotland, seven in Yorkshire and four in Lancashire.

A spokesperson from GNAAS commented: ‘The summer is one of GNAAS’ busiest periods of the year, as the warmer months encourages more people to take part in outdoor activities, such as hiking, countryside walks, and playing sports.’
