Airport ground security staff positions are being advertised by a UK Agency due to ’a low number’ of people currently looking for such work in the island.

The advertisement by Red Sky Personnel Ltd was brought to the attention of the Manx Independent.

It is seeking ground security officers and supervisors from the UK for a fixed-term contract at Ronaldsway - with officers earning £12.50 per hour and supervisors £15.

A statement from the Department of Infrastructure said: ’The Isle of Man Government is aware of a recruitment drive currently underway by a private company contracted to provide security staff for flights serving Isle of Man Airport.

’It’s understood that recruitment remains challenging due to the low number of people currently looking for work on-island.

’Over the past two years, posts have been continually advertised through the Job Centre and tomorrow will mark the third open day held during the same period.

’Print and radio advertising has also been in place to promote available posts to local candidates.’
