Beach Buddies will clear litter from Ballaugh this weekend.

The shoreline is where the volunteer group held its first beach cleaning event 14 years ago.

In 2006, 30,000 pieces of plastic were removed over a six-week period.

Ballaugh is now one of the cleanest beaches on the island, thanks to the large numbers of people who collect everything they see when walking the beach each week.

However, the river and the tides bring in rubbish every day, so volunteers can still expect to find plenty to keep them occupied on Sunday morning, October 25, from 10.30am until noon.

Beach Buddies provides all the equipment - gloves, bags and litterpickers - and moves the rubbish afterwards and recycle as much as possible.
