Isle of Man cyclist Matthew Bostock stormed to a gold medal at the UCI Track Cycling World Championships on Thursday.
The 29-year-old from Glen Vine, who also claimed gold for the Isle of Man at this summer’s Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, produced a sublime performance with a stunning solo break to win the men’s scratch race.
Bocky illuminated the 30km race at the Shanghai Velodrome in China, launching multiple attacks before lapping members of the peloton and clinching victory ahead of New Zealand’s Tom Sexton and Lindsay De Vylder of Belgium.
Earlier in the day, Bostock had formed part of the British contingent that won a bronze medal in the men’s team pursuit.
Lining up alongside Noah Hobbs, Henry Hobbs, Ethan Vernon and Oliver Wood, Bocky helped GB qualify in second place before booking their place in the bronze medal play-off where they got the better of their French counterparts to claim the final step on the podium.
