More than £5,000 was collected on the streets for breast cancer research during the fourth annual bra dashes this month.
Heads were certainly turned when participants, who were wearing brightly-coloured bras and costumes, made their way through Peel, Douglas, Castletown and Ramsey for the island’s branch of Breast Cancer Now.
Castletown was awash with pink dashers of all ages setting off from Market Square at the weekend.
The best dressed team was awarded to Sentient International. Fastest dasher was Adam McMullin and the best dressed child award was given to a William.
Last year the island’s Breast Cancer Now charity managed to hit £200,000 in funds raised since it began in 2004. The money goes towards breast cancer research and services to improve care.
The charity aims to help find a cure by 2050 so that no one else dies from breast cancer.
Organisers of the bra dashes thanked sponsors Lloyd’s Bank and Shoprite and acknowledged the support received from St John Ambulance over the three days.
More details and photographs on the Peel, Ramsey and Douglas dashes are already in this week’s Manx Independent and Isle of Man Examiner, which are in the shops now.
