A concierge service to support businesses and entrepreneurs has been launched.
It will also provide backing for individuals who have decided to relocate here.
Business Connex is a joint initiative between the Chamber of Commerce and the Department for Enterprise.
Business News has previously reported plans for the project and now it has come to fruition.
The service will not only be working closely with the business community but also the Enterprise department as a point of contact with its business development managers concerning new businesses inquiring about relocation to the Isle of Man.
Chris Allen, president, Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce, said: ’This is a very exciting initiative for Chamber, and the island’s business community.
’We’re offering a service that will see Chamber acting as a facilitator for businesses and individuals to connect with the right people and organisations here in the island.
’Business Connex will provide assistance to those already running a business on the island, anyone wishing to establish businesses here, and support to individuals that wish to relocate to the Isle of Man to live and work.
’We’re grateful to the Department for Enterprise for their support - it is recognition of the strong business network of Chamber and the quality and breadth of sector coverage of the membership that can be leveraged in support of the relocation of new businesses and business people.’
The Chamber of Commerce has appointed Jessica Kitchin as manager, Business Connex, as part of the new initiative to help attract, assist and retain inward investment to the island.
Minister for Enterprise, Laurence Skelly MHK, said: ’Facilitating the introduction and relocation of new business to the island is essential for the continuing economic growth of the Isle of Man.
’The Chamber of Commerce is well placed to represent the diverse and vibrant businesses that call the Isle of Man home and by working in public-private partnership we will ensure that a comprehensive and inclusive service is provided to anyone considering moving their operation here. The department’s Locate team will be working to support Jessica in her new role.’
Jessica joins Chamber from Hamblin Employment Group in Douglas, where she worked for seven years as a recruitment manager, bringing with her sector knowledge and a diverse range of connections.
Jessica’s main responsibilities will be to provide support to existing businesses and new organisations wishing to establish businesses here in the island, and assistance to individuals that wish to relocate to the Isle of Man, ensuring that both the business’ or individual’s relocation is as welcoming and seamless as possible.
Along with working proactively for the Chamber of Commerce, Jessica, when requested to do so, will also provide assistance and support to the Department for Enterprise’s business development managers.
Business Connex is a free of charge service, stresses the Chamber of Commerce.
