The Isle of Man Financial Services Authority is supporting a global campaign to highlight the importance of investor education and protection.

‘World Investor Week 2026’ is promoted by the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) to build understanding of current and emerging topics impacting investors around the world.

This year’s themes focus on Investor Resilience and Scams Awareness under the tagline: ‘Invest in Your Future. Protect It Today.’

The 2026 campaign, which runs until October 11, builds on previous initiatives that have raised awareness of matters such as crypto assets, sustainable finance, investing online, and the prevention of fraud.

A host of international organisations, industry stakeholders and regulators take part in World Investor Week to provide tips and guidance aimed at creating smarter investors.

Since its launch in 2017, the initiative has reached millions of individuals across more than 100 jurisdictions.

A FSA spokesperson said: ‘Protecting consumers is one of the Authority’s regulatory objectives, complementing its work to reduce financial crime and maintain confidence in the island’s financial services sector.

‘The Authority publishes information on its website and via its social media channels to alert consumers in the island to potential scams and bogus websites.’

Chief executive officer Bettina Roth added: ‘Participating in World Investor Week highlights the support that’s available to help people make informed choices about their finances.

‘This year’s WIW themes reflect the need for investors to remain resilient in changing market conditions, to question investment information they encounter online, and to stay alert to increasingly sophisticated scams.’

Key themes of World Investor Week 2026

Investor resilience. Smart investors:

  • Stay the course during market volatility and maintain a disciplined, long term investment strategy.
  • Build financial buffers, including an emergency fund and a diversified portfolio, before taking on additional investment risk.
  • Recognise and counteract common behavioural biases that can lead to poor investment decisions.
  • Review and rebalance their portfolio regularly to keep it aligned with their personal goals and risk tolerance.
  • Seek qualified, registered financial advice when navigating market stress or major financial change.

Digital Deception. Smart investors:

  • Use AI as a decision support tool, not a substitute for independent research and critical thinking.
  • Verify investment information independently, even when it appears to come from a credible AI source.
  • Be alert to deepfakes, synthetic endorsements, and cloned voice fraud designed to deceive investors.
  • Demand transparency from any platform or advisor using AI to generate investment recommendations.
  • Protect personal data and never share sensitive financial information with unverified digital platforms.
  • Apply consistent scepticism

Scam Alert. Smart investors:

  • Verify every investment opportunity before committing any funds.
  • Slow down and take time to think when pressured to act quickly.
  • Never share personal credentials or financial data in response to unsolicited communications.
  • Stay alert to phishing attempts through unsolicited emails, messages, and calls, which are common entry points for investment fraud.
  • Recognise Relationship Investment Scams and other fraudulent investment tactics.
  • Report suspected fraud to the relevant authority immediately.
