A short security incident at Isle of Man Airport has been resolved, with passengers being re-screened as a precaution.
The incident happened at approximately 2.45pm this afternoon (Friday) and involved an individual.
The airport said the matter had now been resolved, but all passengers have been required to go through security screening again.
A statement from the airport said: ‘At approximately 14:45 there was a short security incident involving an individual. The matter has now been resolved.
‘As a precaution, all passengers have had to be re-screened, which will result in some delays to departures.
‘We apologise for the disruption and thank passengers for their patience.’
One passenger who contacted Isle of Man Today claimed the incident involved a traveller getting through to the departure lounge without being checked.
The passenger said the departure area subsequently had to be evacuated, with ‘at least three’ plane loads of people then queuing near WHSmith to go through ticket checks and security again.
They questioned whether passengers would be able to make their flights as a result of the disruption.
However, the airport has not confirmed that a passenger bypassed security or provided details of exactly what happened.
The airport's departure board at around 3.25pm showed some disruption, although flights appeared to be continuing to operate.
The 2.45pm easyJet service to Bristol was showing as boarding, while the 3.30pm Liverpool service had taxied.
The 3.35pm Loganair flight to Manchester was showing as boarding shortly, with later services to London City, Manchester, Dublin, Liverpool and London Gatwick listed as on time.
Earlier flights to Manchester, London Heathrow, Dublin, London Gatwick and Birmingham had all departed, with delays ranging from several minutes to around 15 minutes.
Passengers travelling from the airport this afternoon are being advised to expect some delays as the additional security checks take place.
The nature of the incident and the identity of the individual involved have not been disclosed.
