PwC Isle of Man has appointed Nick Halsall as its new senior partner.
Mr Halsall has spent his career with PwC, having joined the firm in 1993 as a trainee accountant.
He spent five years as a manager in PwC Boston, Massachusetts, where he worked on a number of financial and technology clients, including both start-ups and SEC listed.
He returned to the island in 2003 and has served a wide range of PwC’s local and multinational clients with an emphasis on listed clients.
Mr Halsall was appointed to partner in 2010 and in addition to serving some of the firm’s largest assurance clients, he leads the firm’s advisory and insolvency practice.
The leadership change comes at the same time as PwC unveils The New Equation, a landmark global strategy which responds to fundamental changes in the world including technological disruption, climate change, fractured geopolitics, and the continuing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Nick said: ’This is an extremely exciting time for the firm and it’s a privilege to lead this fantastic team of professionals.
’In my role I will continue to deliver the best of PwC, building on our success and investment in the Isle of Man.
’The foundation of our new global strategy, The New Equation, is our multidisciplinary model, which allows us to help clients build trust with their stakeholders and deliver sustained outcomes, by bringing our unique combination of capabilities together, while remaining steadfast in our commitment to quality.’
Nick will succeed Ian Clague, who formally leaves PwC in next month after serving 19 years as senior partner with a career spanning 30 years with the business.
Mr Halsall said: ’Ian has been an inspiring leader and I have learned much from him over the course of my career.
’A lot has changed in my 27 years with the firm, including the uncertainty of the last year.
’Ian has overseen a period of huge change for the firm - one which has seen it grow into a truly progressive and tech-enabled firm with our core values and purpose at the heart of what we do.’
The senior leadership team has been further strengthened by the appointment of two new local partners, Nichola Christison and Johann Marais, bringing the total to eight.
Nichola moved to the island from Scotland in 1998, joining PwC as a trainee. She has been the firm’s asset and wealth management leader for a number of years. She will now oversee the firm’s people strategy.
Johann joined PwC in 2007 and has more than 20 years’ experience in a range of actuarial consultancy roles, including employee benefits and financial risk management consultancy.
He will continue to lead the firm’s actuarial practice, a team that has grown from one to the present 13 under his leadership.
Mr Halsall added: ’I’m delighted to welcome Nichola and Johann to the partnership.
’Their appointment is a key investment in our future, putting us in a great position to continue to deliver high-quality solutions to our clients.’
