Douglas-based banking and investment firm Capital International has welcomed three new school and university leavers onto its young professional and graduate programme.

Now entering its third year, the programme is designed to provide young people in the island on-the-job learning opportunities across a range of roles within the financial services industry, providing valuable insights to help shape their careers across a two-year period.

Taking part in this year’s programme are university graduates Noah Gorry and Millie Smith, and school leaver Lowell Jones.

The youngest member of this year’s cohort, Lowell completed his A-Levels this summer in Business Studies, Economics, and History at Ramsey Grammar School.

His first rotation on the programme is with the onboarding team at Capital International Bank.

When asked what attracted him to the programme, Lowell said: ‘I'm looking forward to gaining real-world experience, working alongside experienced colleagues and developing a better understanding of the different areas within Capital International.

‘I hope to discover where my interests and strengths lie while simultaneously building the skills and confidence to progress in my career.’

Noah graduated from Lancaster University earlier this year with a degree in history and begins his journey at Capital in the dealing and settlements team.

Noah said: ‘I am looking forward towards diversifying my skillset throughout multiple areas of business alongside skilled and seasoned colleagues.

‘The graduate program is an exciting opportunity to combine skills which aid you in your professional career, whilst offering the ability to experience a variety of professional pathways.’

The third participant this year is Millie, who starts her first placement in the marketing team.

Millie graduated from the University of York in 2025 with a degree in global development.

Millie said: ‘I am very grateful to Capital International for this opportunity to experience such a wide range of roles across the business.

‘The programme is a fantastic way to learn more about the different career paths within the financial services industry, and I look forward to discovering where my skills are best suited.’

The trainees join a company of 260-plus employees across five international offices and will benefit from hands-on experience across a range of departments, from asset management and banking to technology and governance.

Capital International’s people and culture advisor Lucy Tickner added: ‘What makes the programme unique is that participants play an active role in shaping their own journey, selecting the departments they would most like to experience based on their interests and career aspirations.

‘The programme is also an investment in the future of the Isle of Man.

‘By providing local young people with meaningful opportunities to develop skills, gain practical experience, and build long-term careers in the island, we are helping to develop the next generation of talent and support a strong, sustainable workforce for the future.’
