Rob Callister had resigned as member from the Department of Health and Social Care - citing personal reasons and a difference of opinion with the Minister Kate Beecroft.

On his Facebook page, the Onchan MHK posted: ’Personally, I am extremely disappointed at having to submit my resignation from the department at such an early stage of this administration, but I felt it was the right decision, and it was the right time to make that difficult decision.

As a department member I have found it increasingly difficult over the last month to support a particular course of action being undertaken by the Minister for Health and Social Care, and therefore I felt that tendering my resignation was the only option available to me.

’My resignation is for personal reasons and a difference of opinion with the Minister, and I am not prepared at this time to publish further details into the reason why I tendered my resignation.’

The Council of Ministers has accepted the resignation.

Mr Callister will continue to serve as a member of the Department for Economic Development where he has responsibility for tourism, hospitality, motorsport and the construction sector.
