In a joint community initiative, accounting firm KPMG in has teamed up with 3FM to plant a variety of trees at the Isle of Man Children’s Centre farm site in Braddan.
The tree planting event, which took place over the weekend, at the farm on the Old Castletown Road is the culmination of a ’green-themed’ campaign held on 3FM.
The radio station’s recent daily competition gave children a chance to win their very own tree sapling and the opportunity to plant it.
KPMG volunteers and competition winners came together to plant these at the Children’s Centre farm site on Saturday, with each winner planting their fruit tree sapling to form a brand new orchard.
The orchard has been developed to help support the site’s bee population.
The initiative is consistent with KPMG’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) commitment to be a net zero carbon organisation by 2030.
’We are particularly excited about the tree planting because it engages our people and local families in a hands-on project that supports our commitment to protecting and improving the environment and the communities in which we do business.’ Said Kristan King, partner at KPMG in the Isle of Man and head of the firm’s CSR committee.
’We look forward to our work having a positive, long-lasting impact on the local community.’
