Cyclist Jake Kelly has the prestigious honour of being Team Isle of Man’s flag bearer at the 2018 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony on Wednesday.
Kelly, who will tackle the men’s road race on April 14, will lead the Manx team of 32 into the Carrara Stadium in Queensland tomorrow.
The 23-year-old from Braddan follows in the footsteps of his grandfather Roger who was flag bearer for the Isle of Man team at the 1962 games in Perth.
The opening ceremony gets under way at 10am (BST) with live coverage on the BBC. The games begin in earnest the following day with triathlete Jenny Newbery among the first Manx competitors in action.
