A Douglas man who denies assaulting a woman at Jaks has been re-bailed after being arrested for breaching his curfew.

Thirty-seven-year-old Michael Joshua Hall is accused of following a woman into the toilets at Jaks and putting his hands around her throat on July 11.

He has denied assault causing actual bodily harm (ABH) and is also charged with breaching a Domestic Abuse Protection Order relating to the woman on the same date.

Hall, of Woodbourne Square, Douglas, is also accused of affray in Strand Street on June 9, which he has denied.

He is due to face a pre-trial review in summary court on September 10.

Hall was granted bail on July 13, but was arrested on August 17 after police checked his address at 11.45pm and found he was not there.

His bail conditions included a curfew between 11pm and 7am.

Hall said his phone had been seized by police and he had been unable to pay for heating or electricity, so had stayed elsewhere.

He was allowed to remain on bail, with the curfew continuing.

A condition preventing him from contacting the complainant also remains in place.
