Being drunk and disorderly outside Samuel Webb’s has cost a Douglas man a £400 fine.

Twenty-two-year-old Callum Murphy, who lives at Hillside Avenue, was asked to leave the Marina Road pub by the manager on March 28, but argued, telling him: ‘I could take you down. I could take any of you down. I could murder you.’

When interviewed, Murphy claimed the manager was unhappy about him talking to a girl, and had put his hands on him, but denied making threats.

Defence advocate Kaitlyn Shimmin said Murphy wanted to apologise, and he had been under a lot of stress at the time.

Magistrates ordered payment of the fine, plus £125 prosecution costs, at a rate of £15 per week.
