An Anagh Coar man has been fined £450 for cannabis possession.

Paul James Galbraith was caught with 69.6 grams of the class B drug, valued with police at £1,392.

Deputy High Bailiff Rachael Braidwood also ordered the 30-year-old to pay £125 prosecution costs.

Prosecuting advocate Harry Bellis told the court that police executed a search warrant at Galbraith’s Lheannag Park address on December 12, in 2024.

Mr Bellis said the case had been linked to other defendants, which was the reason for the delay in the charge being laid.

Defence advocate Helen Lobb said that her client had bought the drug for £650, but had since been prescribed medicinal cannabis.

Galbraith will pay at a rate of £50 per month.
