A 47-year-old woman has been fined £300 for shoplifting.

Lucy Jane Ashton stole two bottles of wine from the Co-op in Castletown on May 28.

The court heard that she was seen in the shop with a male, James Tinkler, aged 44.

Tinkler was seen putting a bottle of wine into Ashton’s handbag.

He then put another bottle into his carrier bag.

They paid for a third bottle but left without paying for the two in their bags.

Magistrates also ordered Ashton to pay £125 prosecution costs, which she will pay, along with the fine, at a rate of £10 per fortnight, deducted from benefits.

Tinkler was also fined £300, plus £125 prosecution costs, during a previous court appearance.
