A Ramsey woman has been fined £150 for being drunk in public.

Twenty-four-year-old Melissa Brew was arrested on July 31, after police were called to Ballaquayle Road in Douglas.

A member of the public reported seeing Brew lying in the middle of the road, and when officers arrived they found her at a bus stop, opposite St Ninians.

She was described as slurring her words and unsteady on her feet.

Defence advocate Jane Gray said Brew had consumed alcohol that was new to her, with a percentage of 18 per cent.

In November, she was put on probation for a year after refusing to leave the Mitre in Ramsey.

Magistrates also ordered £125 prosecution costs and she’ll pay £10 per week, deducted from benefits.
