More than 1,100 passengers climbed aboard the Great Laxey Mine Railway’s annual Ghost Trains over the Hop-tu-Naa weekend.

The popular Halloween attraction ran on Saturday and Sunday, with trains operating from 1pm until 7pm on both days, offering visitors an evening of frights, scares and spooky surprises along the line.

Among the highlights of this year’s event was the tunnel display, which featured ‘The Rolling Bones’, adding an extra spooky element to the journey.

There was also a laser show on both evenings, providing a spectacular visual display.

The celebrations were brought to a fiery conclusion on Sunday, when Skimmee Aile – Isle of Man Fire Performers – delivered a spectacular fire performance at the Washing Floors, just below the railway.

The performance provided a dramatic finale to the two-day event, with flames and fire displays bringing the Hop tu Naa weekend to a close.

A spokesperson from the Great Laxey Mine Railway previously said that the event is entirely run by volunteers, with teams working every year for months in advance to prepare new elements to the occasion.

The annual Ghost Trains have become a popular feature of the Great Laxey Mine Railway’s seasonal events calendar, offering visitors the chance to experience the historic railway in a very different way.
