Rushen Heritage Trust’s popular quiz night will return to Port St Mary next month following a successful debut last year.

The event will take place at Port St Mary Town Hall on Friday, October 9, with local quizmaster Mike Catlow returning to oversee proceedings.

Last year’s inaugural quiz saw team ‘Nob’ take first place, followed by ‘Coole and the Gang’ and ‘Seeking Guidance’.

The event attracted a packed town hall and raised around £600 for Rushen Heritage.

Teams of up to six people can enter, with an entry fee of £25 per team.

Questions have been devised by Roger Putman and Susan Woolard, with the evening featuring three rounds of general knowledge, three rounds of local history, picture rounds and a music round.

The picture rounds will focus on historic island landmarks and people, while the music round will have a Manx theme.

Soft drinks will be provided by Rushen Heritage Trust, while teams are welcome to bring their own alcoholic drinks. A raffle will also be held, with prizes donated by local businesses and organisations.

Robert Graham, chairman of Rushen Heritage Trust, said the first quiz had been ‘incredibly popular’.

He said: ‘Last year’s quiz proved to be incredibly popular, with a packed town hall enjoying a fun – and challenging! – night and raising around £600 for Rushen Heritage.

‘Our thanks to Mike, Susan and Roger for kindly offering their time once again, and we hope to see many of last year’s teams returning, plus some new faces.’

Rushen Heritage Trust was established in 2014 and is based at Rushen Heritage Centre in Bridson Street, Port Erin.

The centre hosts exhibitions throughout the year, alongside winter activity sessions including poetry, art and crafts.
