International house DJ Tall Paul is set to bring decades of British club music history to the Isle of Man when he headlines Neil Cowie’s Afternoon Disco at Bench Club on Saturday, January 30, 2027.

The London-born DJ, whose real name is Paul Newman, will perform at the Douglas venue as part of the daytime clubbing series, which has welcomed a number of established names from the dance music scene.

Tall Paul rose to prominence during the 1990s, playing at some of the UK’s best-known clubs, including Cream, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, Godskitchen and Trade.

His career began at Turnmills, where his family owned the club and he played private parties as a teenager, before moving into pirate radio with Touchdown and Sunrise.

A residency at London club Trade in 1990 helped establish his reputation, with his energetic house sets going on to make him a fixture of the era’s club scene.

In 1998, he was named DJ of the Year by Muzik magazine, while compilations bearing his name, including Club Nation, Cream Anthems and The Gallery, collectively sold more than one million copies.

He also found success as a recording artist.

His track ‘Rock Da House’ reached the UK Top 12, while ‘Let Me Show You’, released under his ‘Camisra’ alias, peaked at number five in the UK singles chart in 1998.

The latter became a dancefloor favourite, featuring in club sets and events including Spaced and Fatboy Slim’s Big Beach Boutique.

Tall Paul has also remixed artists including the Stone Roses and New Order, alongside dance acts Energy 52 and Nalin & Kane.

His appearance at Bench will continue the venue’s Afternoon Disco programme, which offers audiences the chance to enjoy club music and DJ performances during the day.

Organised by Neil Cowie, the series features a mix of musical styles, ranging from 1970s and 1980s disco to house music and party anthems, with previous events attracting established names from across the dance music industry.

Past guests have included Hedkandi, K-Klass, Cream resident Paul Bleasdale, Jon Pleased Wimmin, Judge Jules and festival favourite 2funky2.

The January event is expected to feature some of Tall Paul’s best-known productions alongside the house tracks that helped define his career.

Organisers are encouraging attendees to arrive early for the afternoon session.

Tickets have now gone on sale, priced at £20 plus the booking fee and available online at https://www.skiddle.com/e/42835254
