A dancer from Onchan has received one of the most prestigious accolades in the UK dance world alongside his partner.

Nicholas Wilson and Dudley-based Livy Bradfield, both 18-years-old, have been named recipients of the 2026 Carl Alan Award for Outstanding Classical Sequence Partnership.

Often described as the ‘Oscars of the Dance World’, the awards recognise exceptional achievement across all genres of dance, with winners selected following nominations from national organisations within the dance community.

The pair received their award from Strictly Come Dancing professional Ola Jordan at a ceremony attended by some of the industry's most celebrated figures, including the BBC show’s head judge Shirley Ballas.

The achievement is particularly significant for the Isle of Man, with Nicholas becoming only the third Manx-born dancer to be honoured in the awards' 70-year history.

Previously, Nina Hunt was awarded it in 1968 and Megan Croft in 2022.

The award marks another milestone in a successful period for the partnership, which has seen them compete at some of the leading national events in the Classical and Modern Sequence calendar.

They have also performed at the prestigious Classique de Danse Awards Gala.

Nicholas and Livy said they were ‘absolutely thrilled and incredibly proud’ to receive the accolade, describing it as a special recognition of their commitment to one another and their dedication to Classical Sequence.

Their partnership involves many hours of travelling to train together, while balancing sporting commitments, studies and other interests.

They also thanked their teachers, Diane Killip of Killip School of Dance, and Neil and Tara Bradfield of Expressions Dance Academy, for their guidance, hard work and commitment in helping the long-distance partnership thrive and achieve success at national level.

The pair also expressed their gratitude for the opportunities and support they have received over the years from Expressions Dance Academy and the Isle of Man Dance Teachers’ Association.
