Pizza Hut has confirmed its Douglas store has permanently closed and will not be reopening.

The outlet on Walpole Avenue shut its doors last year, ending more than a decade of trading in the island.

A spokesperson for Pizza Hut confirmed the closure to Media Isle of Man, saying: ‘Unfortunately, the Douglas Pizza Hut delivery store on the Isle of Man has closed.

‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers.’

Pizza Hut arrived on the Isle of Man in 2013, with its Walpole Avenue premises offering both a sit-in area and takeaway service before later operating as a delivery store.

The closure comes amid a turbulent period for the wider Pizza Hut business in the UK.

The company behind Pizza Hut's UK restaurants entered administration for a second time in 2025, with 68 restaurants and 11 delivery sites earmarked for closure and around 1,210 jobs affected. A rescue deal by parent company Yum! Brands saved 64 restaurants and more than 1,200 jobs.

The UK business had been acquired from insolvency earlier in 2025 before entering administration again in October.

Yum! Brands subsequently agreed to sell the wider Pizza Hut business, excluding mainland China, to private equity firm LongRange Capital.

The sale was completed in September for approximately $1.5bn (£1.1bn), subject to adjustments, with the potential for a further $75m earn-out based on future performance.

Despite the changes at an international level, Pizza Hut's closure on the island means Douglas will remain without a branch of the chain.

The Walpole Avenue premises have remained closed since the outlet ceased trading last year.

Pizza Hut continues to operate through delivery and restaurant locations elsewhere in the UK and Ireland.
