Firefighters were called to a bedroom fire at a property in Douglas on Friday morning.

Crews from Douglas and Laxey were called to the blaze just after 11am at an unidentified address in the capital.

Station officer Martin Charker said: ‘On arrival, crews discovered a fire in a bedroom within the property. All occupants had safely evacuated before the fire service arrived.

‘The officer in charge committed four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, who extinguished the fire using a hose reel jet.

‘A thermal imaging camera was then used to check for any remaining hot spots and to ensure the fire had not spread to other areas of the property.

‘Crews remained at the scene for approximately one hour before the incident was brought to a safe conclusion.’
