Two flights were cancelled after smoke was reported coming from the engine of a Loganair aircraft at Isle of Man Airport today (Monday).
The Airport Fire Service (AFS) was called to the aircraft shortly before the scheduled departure of the 12.35pm flight to Birmingham.
A picture sent to Isle of Man Today shows fire crews attending the incident at the airport.
An Isle of Man Government spokesperson said the AFS was required to attend an emergency call-out after smoke was reported as appearing from the aircraft’s engine prior to departure.
All 34 passengers on board were escorted to safety while the emergency response remained in place.
The AFS stayed at the scene until 12.30pm, when the incident was declared closed.
The incident resulted in the cancellation of both the Isle of Man to Birmingham service and the return flight from Birmingham to the island.
The return service had been due to arrive at Isle of Man Airport at 3.05pm.
The spokesperson confirmed that all remaining flights were operating as normal.
Passengers travelling through the airport have been advised to continue arriving as planned unless contacted directly by their airline.
