The runway at Isle of Man Airport has been closed this evening due to an issue with its runway edge lights.
A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) update states that the runway at Ronaldsway is closed until 8.45pm because of the lighting issue.
NOTAM is an official alert informing pilots and air traffic controllers of important hazards, changes or restrictions affecting flights.
The closure has disrupted flights, with the 3.50pm easyJet service to Liverpool, EZY518, cancelled after initially being delayed.
Passengers had boarded the aircraft at around 5.30pm while awaiting a further update. The flight had been rescheduled to depart at 6.30pm before its cancellation was confirmed.
The service was set to be the last departing flight scheduled from the airport today, with other flights in and out of Ronaldsway this evening also cancelled.
EasyJet reportedly apologised to passengers for the disruption, saying the runway had been closed due to a failure of the airport’s lighting system.
The airline said it was working to minimise the delay and operate the flight as soon as it was safe to do so, adding that the disruption was outside its control and considered an ‘extraordinary circumstance’.
