The Isle of Man Met Office has issued a 12-hour yellow weather warning for Friday (October 23) as two named storms approach the island.
Storm Austen and Storm Boelo have now been officially named by the Met Office, with heavy rain, severe gales and possible flooding forecast over the weekend.
Heavy rain is expected to begin at 3am on Friday, with the warning remaining in force until 3pm.
The warning covers the entire island, with localised flooding possible.
Storm Austen is expected to bring Friday's unsettled conditions, including strong winds and persistent rainfall.
The weather warning states: ‘The rain will become persistent and heavy tonight, before gradually easing and petering out later tomorrow morning and early afternoon.
‘Rain totals are expected to reach 15 to 30mm, with a risk of localised flooding, particularly where any drains are blocked.’
Yellow warnings advise people to be aware of potentially disruptive weather, including travel delays, minor damage and temporary disruption.
The Met Office has also confirmed that an amber weather warning is expected to be issued for the weekend as Storm Boelo approaches.
Amber warnings indicate a greater risk of severe weather affecting work, schools and travel, alongside possible damage and a risk of injury.
The worst conditions are expected during the early hours of Sunday (October 25), when severe gales could produce gusts of up to 70mph.
Winds are forecast to ease during Sunday afternoon, with mostly sunny conditions expected despite the blustery weather.
