First this week we head to Jaks, where the Douglas bar will be holding a double header of gigs this weekend.

On Friday night, Looney and The Vikings will be in residence.

The band, led by Dan Looney on vocals and also featuring Dave Ball on guitars, Susan Harrison on sax and keys, Wayne Harrison on bass and Charlie Crowe on drums present a set of covers ranging from The Beatles, The Kinks, T-Rex, The Jam and The Undertones at one end, through to The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Stereophonics, Blink 182 and The Kaiser Chiefs at the other.

Well worth a look at if you happen to be up that way.

Genre-wise, think funk, rock and pop, with their influences listed as The Beatles, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, The Stone Roses, Fleetwood Mac, along with a smattering of Motown.

Finally this week, a quick shout out for a new band due to hit the gigging circuit in the coming months.
